What is a signal Isolator?

Signal isolators are process control devices that provide electrical (galvanic) isolation between the input and output circuits. These isolators couple the signal to the output via an optical isolator or a transformer. They also help in the distribution of signals and break the direct electrical galvanic path between loop points.
