DEWA Approved Tariff meter

Tariff meters are revenue-grade energy meters officially approved by the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) for use in electrical installations across Dubai. A DEWA-approved meter is mandatory for any installation in Dubai — approval guarantees the meter has passed DEWA’s rigorous testing for accuracy, safety, communication protocols, and tamper-proofing. DEWA regulations require tariff (kWh) metering to be clearly shown on the single-line diagram and approved before installation. Metering by means of Current Transformers (CTs) is required where the circuit breaker rating at the point of supply is 200 Amps and above. In some circumstances, the consumer may be permitted to provide the kWh meter and CTs, provided they comply with DEWA Technical Specifications — and such meters must be tested and calibrated by DEWA before installation on site.
