A relay terminal block (also called an interface relay module or relay terminal unit) is a DIN rail-mounted relay built into a plug-in socket base. It isolates a low-voltage PLC, DCS or digital output signal from a higher-voltage or higher-current field circuit, so a control signal can safely switch equipment, solenoids, contactors or lamps. Choosing a Relay Terminal Block
Use an electromechanical 1CO relay terminal block to isolate a single PLC or DCS digital output; a 2CO unit switches two independent circuits from one coil input, useful for redundant or dual-equipment signalling. Choose a solid state relay module where switching speed, silent operation or high cycle life matter more than mechanical contact flexibility — DC-output SSRs suit solenoids and DC actuators, while AC-output (zero-crossing) SSRs suit contactors, motors and lamps.
