Nuhas — the Emirates National Copper Factory — is a UAE-based manufacturer of high-purity oxygen-free copper (OFC) products for the electrical, transformer, and switchgear industries. Operating from Abu Dhabi, Nuhas produces copper busbars, enamelled winding wires, PICC (paper insulated copper conductors), bare copper wires, and copper strips — all manufactured from 99.99% pure electrolytic copper with a measured electrical conductivity of 101% IACS, among the highest achievable for copper conductors.
The cornerstone of the Nuhas range is their oxygen-free copper busbar, manufactured to ASTM B187 and available in soft, half-hard, and full-hard conditions to suit the bending and forming requirements of switchgear fabricators and busduct manufacturers. OFC busbars are specified where standard electrolytic tough-pitch (ETP) copper carries unacceptable risk — primarily where the busbar will be subject to hydrogen-rich atmospheres, high-temperature brazed joints, or demanding flexural stress during installation. The 99.99% copper purity and oxygen-free specification eliminate the potential for hydrogen embrittlement and pin-holing at bends, delivering a busbar that performs reliably throughout the service life of a UAE switchgear installation. Tin plating in 1–20 micron thicknesses is available for contact surface protection in humid or corrosive environments. Standard packaging is in 3 and 4-metre lengths on pallets.
The Nuhas enamelled wire range (to IEC 60317) covers thermal classes B through C — from 120°C PVA insulation through to 200°C polyamide-imide for high-efficiency motor and transformer winding applications. PICC (paper insulated copper conductor) for power transformer winding is produced in a range of sizes with Kraft, Nomex, and Mica insulation wrapping options to customer specification. Bare copper wire (1.2–4 mm diameter, IEC 60228 / ASTM B3) and copper strip (1–3 mm thick, 10–80 mm wide, BS EN 13601) complete the range for cable and earthing conductor applications.
